LGBTQIA+ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer (or questioning), Intersex, and Asexual, along with the “+”)
LGBTQIA+ is all about sex. Sex is part of God’s creation, so sex is good, but any sex performed in an improper manner is sinful as far as the bible is concerned. Therefore, to the Church LGBTQIA+ is sinful.
Incidentally, only sinful people go to church. In the church, there are fornicators, thieves, liars, cheaters, murderers, and all forms of sinners. When sinners go to church, they humbly and sincerely ask for forgiveness of sins. Sinners in sincerity and humility plead for their sins in seeking for the Gift in the church. So, the church always opens its doors to all sinners. However, if sinners go to church and declare that they are proud of their sins, it is affront to the church. Just as no good parent will be happy with children who are proud of their misdeeds, so the church is not happy with sinners who are proud of their sins. No righteous person goes to church, none.
LGBTQIA+ and church may not be a proper mix. It is no wonder that churches are splitting due the influence of LGBTQIA+. There should be a proper way to exist without such deep conflict. Though the church in some way has been complicit to the rise of LGBTQIA+ as mentioned already, the church must not condone it. However, they cannot also persecute LGBTQIA+, it is not the responsibility of church to persecute anyone they deemed as sinner. (They should understand that they are also sinners). They are just to preach the Word. To influence people in power to punish LGBTQIA+ is an improper way of propagating the Word. The church must focus on the commission given them and learn to live peaceably with everyone.
On the other hand, if LGBTQIA+ cannot accept that they are also sinners, based on the biblical teachings, then their presence in the church will continue to cause confusion and schism in the church. To influence people in power to restrict church activities does not help the people in general because of the church’s work in the community, caring for the poor and the needy. LGBTQIA+ must accept that the church as an entity has some believes it must adhere to for it to function. Both should have deeper and honest discussion devoid of any animosity to bring peace to uphold the Union.
